I also think the old one looks fine. Have you ever measured the coils?

It's the same sparks I'll install once my engine work is complete ! HAd them in the past and worked smoother than OEM but were prone to blowing during the cold winters !

Thanks guys! The coils are great. They even seem smother than the OEM ones (NGK Platinum).
Holger what do you mean my measuring them?

I thought of you misfire issues. Have you checked the coils? Guess there might be a way to measure their resistance.

The coils are new. So there shouldn't be a problem there.
I will check for deposits on the valves that might prevent them for closing fully (as I understand this is a common problem with direct infection engines).

Yes, it is. After 80.000km mine was choked by deposits. However, now, at 110.000km my engine was clean inside !

I now have almost 70.000 km so it might be time to clean the valves. Thanks for the info!
I will check this next week, before another track day at Hungaroring.

How do you clean the valves.....and keep them clean?!
Cylinder head off or a fuel additive?

Since the fuel never reach the valve stems as it's injected directly into the cylinder there's no idea in using fuel additive for this specific problem

Over the top mod list ;o)

Or use a oscilloscope (I hope this is the English word for it).
I talked to a mechanic and I will use this tool to see if there are deposits ore if I have any problems with the timing belt (mine is on chain so hopefully no problems here).

I think you might mean a borescope.  :happy2:

In German: "Endoskop" to have a look into engine internals.

I made a more detailed search and it seems it is called oscilloscope. It is used on cars also:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscilloscope
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/automotive-diagnostic-oscilloscope.html
http://www.autoditex.com/Download/Oscilloscope_FAQ_en.pdf

By interpreting the data it will be able to tell me if there are any timing belt problems or deposits or many other issues.
