Ho ho ho, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Since I last wrote here, the car had it's 10th birthday. Ten whole years  :pomppomp: !!!!
I think I wrote before, when I bought it I thought I would keep it for 4 years but now there is no plan to sell the car. I plan on buying other cars but not selling this one.
My wife drove the Golf for the second time last evening and even she said it drives very nicely  :star:.

So, what have I been doing!? Well, not much, honestly...
I feel there are some interior mods that I need:
- auto lights
- black (GTI) headliner
- reverse camera

I think after these, I will be done with modding the interior.
The headliner will require me to remove the rollbar, so it's not quite easy, the reverse camera is requiring some money I prefer to save for the new car so, I was stuck with getting the auto lights.

I first installed the sensor on the climatronic vent (went behind the clocks) but I didn't like it that the sensor was very "forgiving" - it would turn the lights on only when it was very dark.

So, I decided to either move the sensor or buy a sensor that has sensitivity adjustment. I decided for the latter and ordered a sensor from Bold-Sport. But after getting the product I realised that it had no sensor adjustment even if it was clearly advertised as having one... I wrote a complain but they did not even answer (I've made 2 follow-ups). At least I know not to order anything else from them...
Non the less, I installed the sensor on the A pillar and not it works perfect!

All in all, I quite like this mod because I don't have to mess with the lights every time I enter a garage or tunnel.
Thanks for watching, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

And a few updates, ladies and gentlemen...

I've decided the next mod  :pomppomp: : rear view camera... so next up, I'll buy a RCD 510 with video input, Rear Badge and Camera and the necessary cables. After that, all what remains with the interior is to have the black GTI head lining.

And one slightly bigger update, I've bought a Porsche Cayman - Black Edition :driver:

It's a one of the latest naturally aspirated Cayman, manufactured in June 2016. Even if the discount was not quite massive compared to a similarly equipped brand new Cayman, I really wanted the NA as opposed to the Turbo engine. The car has 11k miles which is not much but still it doesn't make it a new car  . The sound is truly awesome and, just like with the Golf, there is no plan of ever selling the car and I think I will enjoy the NA engine feeling much more than the actual power increase of the new 718 Cayman.

I will track the Porsche as well but I want to take it gradually and learn the car and not rush anything.
I already have the first mods in mind and I have to temper myself for the next few months, at least .

The Cayman is pretty much the ideal configuration for me (I've been waiting a long time to find these specs):
- Adaptive Dampers (Porsche Active Suspension Management)
- Sport Chrono Package - includes the adaptive engine mounts, the analog watch (useless if you as me) and rev matching
- Sport Exhaust
- Limited Slip Diff (Porsche Torque Vectoring)
- Automatic climate control & seated seats (you will not believe how many Caymans have the regular air conditioning and normal seats)
All the rest are nice to haves:
- Bi-Xenon
- Partial Leather Package
- 20 inch rims
- Sat Nav
etc

Thanks for watching!

Teo, I am afraid I won't impress you with the Cayman, at least not this year. But you are welcome for a passenger lap whenever you please  :driver:

Since the weather is too cold for the Porsche, I spent a lot of time with the Golf this week.
In doing so, I also prepared it for the next track day season... To be more precise, BRAKES.
I went with the usual DaveB J Hooked rotors and Pagid RS29 on the nqsbbk calipers, on the front.

For the back, I changed the pads (Ferrodo DS 2500 as usual) and I also change the disks (the old ones had about 70k miles on them, about 1.5 mm of wear and a lot of track days.... I am still surprised of how much they lasted) with J Hooked rotors as well.

These just arrived:

Still need the RCD 510 with video input (on the way) and I am good to go.

And a couple of photos of the garage (I am really proud of both cars :rolleye:

It's very good to have a RVC! Good mod! I'd still reinforce the red and yellow cables that come out of the camera because they tend to break with wear. Try to make sure they don't bend when the RVC leaves its resting position.

Great garage indeed! :notworthy:
