Nice find.  I know very little about the space but from an engineering point of view designing, transporting, building that little lot in the middle of Space..... and getting it to work, is pretty spectacular IMO.

Its actually quite easy to see from altitudes, normally the brightest thing to see in the sky is Venus, but sometimes you can see this thing go whizzing by at an incredible rate or so it seems. Might have it all wrong but I was told by somebody well informed.

Always seems to be over central France when I see it.

Unless its a UFO....(dons foil hat and sits in a corner)

You can see it quite easily as Dave alludes to, Friends live in SW France, and when sat out (chewing the fat and having a few wines/Beers (delete as appropriate)) you can see it shifting quite quickly.

I've seen it a few times when it passes over the UK, it's quite visible on a clear night, moving very quickly.

A few years ago we saw Discovery approaching the ISS, which was quite a cool sight. Two very bright points of light moving at apparently the same velocity.

I managed to get tickets to see Discovery's next launch (STS-133), currently scheduled for the 23rd of Feb. I'm quite excited!    It will be one of the last Shuttle launches; after that, only Endeavour is scheduled 1(STS-134; then Atlantis is scheduled provisionally, but STS-135 has not been confirmed yet).

Seeing a shuttle launch will be very cool. I've been on holiday in Florida twice when launches were scheduled but both times it was delayed and ending up launching just after we had flown home.... most disappointed!

I watched a night launch from the west coast of florida (clearwater) and it was just as bloody impressive!, promised myself Id do Kennedy after that and I did in 2008, for anybody with any mechanical/engineeering/aeronautical interest its just mind blowing.... The Apollo Hall with the Saturn V broken down just blew me away
