I've tried a few on mine over the years and my two favourites are:

Clearkote Carnauba Mousse Wax - relatively cheapish wax, very wet look, decent durability, so easy to apply.

Swissvax Best of Show - quite similar to above but more expensive and excellent beading. Very easy to apply and smells great.

As already said, most of the looks come from the prep work - paint correction or at least a good cleaner / filler polish.

My car is garaged and only occasionally used. For durability and looks I would go for Collinite 845. I use this on my company car which stands outside all the time and covers decent mileage. Colli 845 gives superb beading and very good durability even in winter.

^^^I know a couple of mates who've used BOS and haven't rated it highly. They're no amateur detailers either.

Having said that, the pros seem to love it.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
