Hi Gang

Mine is going in on Thursday for an oil change service, £112, shocking, but they will check over brakes etc at the same time.

I asked about the coil packs and yes they will be done so I am well pleased.  :jumpmove: I have a misfire at about 80mph if you accelerate hard.

Also, I find that the car seems to accelerate more if you lift off from full throttle in any gear. Another little problem is that the engine hunts a bit when pulling away first thing in the morning. Those two things could be something else, possibly the dump valve, but coil packs for free is a good start! I'm not sure whether to get them to fit new plugs while they are in there, £90 if they do, but I could do them myself. Apparently they are due at 60,000 miles, mine is on 53,000 so it would make sense to do it now.

Here's hoping for a better drive. :driver:

If it was me I would change the plugs myself before they change the coil packs just in case your ham-fisted and break a coil pack on removal!

Contacted another dealer to see if my car is included, they put my VIN number in and the VW system crashed. They then put it in Audi system and it came back that the car was not included in the recall.

Car registered March 07. Edition 30 number is not that far off Alex's car (within 20).

Let us know how you get on with the test drive Steve :happy2:

I'm booked in Thursday morning on the coilpacks recall.  :happy2:

VW dealers must wonder what's hit them with all our calls over the UK!

....10-15 minutes total, I reckon.

The woman on my VW dealer's service desk doesn't even know what a coilpack is! She's booked my car in for half a day! :stupid: The old staff who were ex mechies knew their stuff but fortunately they've now employed a new 'Technical Manager' guy who's up to speed.
