JJ - swf7y and I are going to be around 15 mins late. Think he only got outta bed when I texted him!

No dramas.  I don't know how they know but even when I make plans (in complete secrecy) to do something or go somewhere, work sees to it that they page me in the middle of the night with a job to knack*r up any plans I might have made.  It's not even Sod's Law - it's more victimising than that!  Anyway, just got up and will head over in a bit and see if I can find you all.

Well it was a bit of a poor turn out.

The people who I did meet were swf7y (and his friend), flora and his friend (with an awesome CW Scirocco R), and SteveP. NeilM was there though was expecting him to be a lot faster. But loved seeing his car in the flesh - think it was the first time I saw it.

Some of the racers were crap - a lot of slow civics, even slower fezzas,  quicker clios, some abysmal american "muscle cars and lots of bikes (  :indifferent: ) The two most impressive vehicles were the rusted out "jeepers creepers" pickup (as swf7y's friend described it), and the chevvy.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Well, I've just come away a bit underwhelmed also!  Got a b*llocking off the dragon with a girl tattoo at the gate who accused me of trying to sneak through without paying.  I pointed out that I had made no such attempt and had I done so she wouldn't have been stood there talking to me right now whilst relieving me of a twenty pound note!  I parked next to a black Pirelli and the CW Scirocco - both very nice and apart from some of the things stealth has already mentioned, it was a bit tame.

Ah so that was your car! Saw it on the way out.  :happy2:

Originally we had all parked in one spot - if you'd gone straight ahead from where you had parked, you'd have seen us. Then Flora and Mark decided to move their cars because of "dust" - not that I saw any on the cars when we returned!

Seen!  I circled your cars when I arrived before deciding to park back next to the Pirelli (never seen one before!).  Shame I didn't manage to meet anyone.

I had a great day nice to see a few friendly faces, would have been nice to see more but ohwell! Yeah Neil did well on the qtr, was good to see him run!
The rusty Chevy pickup truck was awesome, it was running sub 10 secs! Also the Matt black Chevy Nova was pretty mental too! :stupid:
Yeah when I got back to my car I spotted the blue GTI parked next to me...never had chance to see who it was!

Agreed - it's a pity. Unless you know what we all look like, it can be easy to miss everyone, even at a relatively small meet like today.

Sorry I didn't come along guys, Went to Early Edition and actually stuck mine in the show.  :surprised:
Glad the weather was much nicer for this one than the Pod meet late last year :scared:

Hopefully catch up with you all soon though.

Dissapointing really. Only a few members of the forum came along  :sad1: Was nice to meet the lads who dud turn up and the Chevvy Nova and Jeepers Creepers rust bucket were pretty special.

NeilM's car looked fantastic in the flesh. Don't think I've seen a better MK5 GTI than that
