Warranty on warranty work?

My drivers seat doesn't tilt/slide any more to gain access to the back seat.  I have had this problem before and it was fixed under warranty.  The car is out of it's manufacturers warranty now (only by a month GRRR) , but is there any warranty on the previous work undertaken?

Sounds like it won't be covered anymore as your factory warranty has expired:

In the event of warranty repairs being necessary, any member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network will be able to carry out any rectification work under the terms of the manufacturer's warranty.

Any part which is replaced becomes the property of Volkswagen. Any replaced parts are covered for the unexpired period of the vehicle warranty.

I would get onto your servicing dealer and explain the fault, they may be good enough to do something for you seeing as its only just out of warranty, at the very least a good will contribution from VW

If parts were replaced, these hold their own 2 year warranty, but dealership work is either the remainder of the car warranty, or 6 months whichever is longer

It always used to be that way at least with regard to the warranty on worksmanship when I used to work at VW...the 2 year part warranty however is still in place.

Warranty work that is done on a vehicle whilst under manufactures warranty will expire when the manufactures warranty does

So if a car has a gearbox 1 day before warranty expires then that gearbox goes bang 1 day out of warranty then it's not covered

The dealer may be willing to help with the costs of the repair however

Before I got my Ed30 had a Celica, anyone who knows the wheels on those will know they just decay on UK roads.
After every set of replacement alloys the dealers always pointed out that these parts came with their own 12 month warranty.
Think i got the last set mine well beyond the 3 years warranty on the car, as Toyotas were back then (2006) before their pedal/carpet fun.
Might have changed nowadays and that was my local Toyota dealer.

However, late last summer my other halfs Mk5 GT out of warranty got the ABS sensor replaced free of charge. And that was about 3 months beyond it's three years. So it's worth asking them for some goodwill, especially if you get it serviced at the dealership. Don't think garages generally like losing customers even though sometimes their staff do their best to lose your business.

It was fixed at Worcester the last time it broke, but I use Evesham now.

It's worth asking I think, they may do it out of goodwill.  It's not an uncommon problem from what I've read on here, and for it to break twice in three years surely means it's not fit for purpose, especially as my back seats rarely get used for passengers.
