Does anyone have a control column wiper stalk diagram?
Or maybe even an up-to-date fuse box diagram for 2005-2006 cars?

Why?  Read on......

A slightly bizarre fault:

Did MOT a week ago, tester said failed on front washers not working then when he went to fix he found they were working working......
Mmmm.

Fast forward a few days, the front wash/wipe now stopped working.  Wipers fine on wipe only, rear fine.
Checked fuses.
F36 fuse (20 Amp) in fascia fuse box blown.
Changed fuse, still not work.
Mmmm, try ignition leaving 5 minutes - works!

A day later, stops working again.
No fault codes on my OBDII [added after comment below]
Check fuses (I hate not having a reliable fuse map   :fighting:) and can't find any blown.
Plenty of water and when I stimulate directly with 12 volts the pumps work and the outlets spew water.
The relay is fine.
Tried the bonnet switch, no joy (but as wipers work except for wash/wipe I wasn't expecting this to be faulty) [added after comment below]
This leaves just about the only remaining candidate as the control column stalk........but I don't have a circuit diagram to check the outputs before I start having a go at cleaning all the connections.

I tried the Russian servicing manuals listed elsewhere on the site and can't find anything there.

Cheers,

Ian

Yep, plenty of fluid in the bottle (and on the floor after I applied 12 v to the pumps to check that the pumps worked and the hoses were clear).
It's just not getting 12v to the pumps when I pull the stalk.
I'm going to check the fuses again tomorrow and put fuses in the blank slots just in case I've done something silly (and can't check because all the fuse location diagrams I have aren't correct)
Cheers,
Ian

IIRC the bonnet not being closed will prevent the wipers working and these are quite susceptable to failure.  Try shorting out the switch and see how you get on.

Thanks.  Wipers work, it's just the wash/wipe function, but I've tried shorting the switch already, no joy (will add to post).
Cheers,
Ian

I had a similar problem the other week....55 plate (MY06) GTI.

Not a fuse, bonnet switch, or washer fluid.

I gave the top of the steering column a postive thwack and it sprang into life, just assumed it was a dirty microswitch, been ok since.

In terms of wiring to the stalk, there isn't any as such.  The stalk plugs directly into the steering controller which is then separately wired.

Any fault codes logged??

The fuse layout is in the owners handbook isn't it.

Am I correct that the windscreen washers work as you would expect and the rear is ok, but if you pull the stalk towards you the wipers do not activate and the washers do not fire?

If so that sounds like the same issue I experienced above, I replaced the 20A fuse and it made no difference.

Yep, wiper functions ok except nothing happens when I pull the stalk towards me and no fault codes (I have an OBDII).

I've tried hitting the stalk without success.......

And the fuse box in my owners manual has so many differences to my car's that it's confusing and frustrating.

I didn't hit the stalk ...(great this eh?) I gave the top of steering column a firm whack, the bit on top between the horn and the clocks.

Took a couple of taps....(you have to laugh at this eh?)  :star:

You may find the fuse box pic in manual is for the left hand drive cars, I doubt it's a fuse tbh. The ones i tried to replace were the yellow 20a ones. There are resources on here or on line I am sure that give you all fuses and relays...don't have time now to get you a linky but if I have time I will source it later for you. Unless some good soul comes along and helps meantime.

Yep, checked the relay and swapped it for another one, no change.  I'll repeat the test tomorrow along with further banging just in case there are 2 things at work.........
