MattPoss - Tornado Red DSG GTI.......
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:41:10 pm »
Well after 2 and a half years with the GT TDI, I was ready for a change. I test drove quite a few cars (Clio 197, Fabia VRS e.t.c) but seeing as I had quite a few parts gathered up on the Golf, it seemed sensible to get another one! I've only ever had Golf's (a MK4 TDI, a MK5 GT TDI and now this MK5 GTI )

Picked this up yesterday morning......

2006 MK5 Golf GTI in Tornado Red
DSG
40,000 miles
Dual Zone Climate Control
Xenon Lights
Sunroof
Luxury Pack
Electric Interlagos Cloth Seats (quite rare from what I can gather)
Cruise Control
Multi Function Wheel
Colour Coded Skirts and Rear Bumpers
Parking Sensors
Armrest

I absolutly love the car! Tonight when I got home I fitted my R32 Rear Lights which look miles better. Couldn't get any pics due to it being dark when I was finished

Plans for it are as follows.........

Get my Private Plate on
Fit S3 Brakes (from old car)
Fit BBS VZ's (from old car)
Fit RCD 510 (from old car)
Paint middle of rear bumper Black (around Exhaust)
Intake (possibly ITG I think)
Exhaust (fancy a Blueflame this time round)
Remap

No doubt there will be other bit's along the way too!

Here's a few pics of my old Sootchucker too, was a nice car and served me very well. Will be for sale soon if anyone is interested...............

Updates to come as and when :happy2:

Matt

Sorry about the rubbish pics, Photobucket is playing up and seems to swirl everything, not just the numberplate :fighting: :fighting:

Very nice colour, and good to see the coding matching so well as have heard that red is a difficult one to match.
Will be nice to see the updates, (though can't imagine why the old owner did all the rear bumper, love the black around the exhaust!

Will your old Milltek from the diesel not fit your new GTI, mine is the standard cat back for the GTI, except it has an adapter pipe for the diesel.

Thnakyou very much folks :happy2:

Very nice Matt!  :congrats:

I thought about wrapping the inner section of the rear valance but didnt know whether the heat from the exhaust would affect it so I was going to paint it. I know the owner of a local wrapping business so wrapping would be cheaper if it would last ok?! Might do the middle of the front valance aswell just to break it up a bit.

As for the exhaust, i've got a Milltek Cat Back on my TDI at the minute and have just spoken to Leigh from Milltek regarding whether it will fit the GTI or not. He said some do and some don't so i'll get the part number of it when i've got it up on the ramps this weekend and speak to him again on monday.

Yesterday also saw the purchase of a Cambelt Kit, 40k Service Parts and DSG Service Parts so i'm £249 down after that lot :sad1:

On the Plus side, by the end of the weekend i'll have fully serviced GTI and will hopefully have my S3 Brakes and BBS VZ's on it aswell

Well we had quite a productive weekend

The car went into the dealers on Saturday for the Coilpack Recall and whilst it was there my mate fitted 4 new spark plugs in it. Then we were back again yesterday for 6 hours doing the following.....

Remove S3 Brakes from GT TDI and Fit Originals, Remove Brakes from GTI and fit S3 Ones, Change Wheels Over, Fit Rear Mudflaps, DSG Oil and Filter Service, Engine Oil and Filter Service, Brake Fluid Change, Air Con Service and VAGCOM Checks (which were all clear thank god)

So after all that, the car is now looking like this with the S3 Brakes and the BBS VZ's on..............

It's in need of a good clean now and some photo's with something other than an iPhone. I've been in contact with Milltek (who have been very helpful) but unfortunatly the Cat Back from my GT TDI won't fit so i've had to scrap that idea :sad1:

Next weekend we'll be tackling this.......

Yep, Timing Belt change. Once thats done the car will be fully serviced up and ready to start modding properly

I'm not too sure, I paid £250 for all the parts (belt kit, spark plugs, engine oil and filter, dsg oil and filter, brake fluid, screenwash e.t.c)

My mate is a mechanic there so I got a few pennies off :happy2:
