Big thanks to Alex Perkins
« on: March 13, 2011, 07:30:28 pm »

Just wanted to say a Big thanks to alex, for coming up today all the way from poole .

He has repaired my front seat side Bolsters, got rid of all those horrid stress cracks in the bolsters, also repaired my Xenon headlight shutters that went working on the passenger side, and tidying the left loose wiring under the dashboard (ie the wires from the xenons to the convienance module):scared: . Also helped me with some education on VCDS coding etc.

Very helpful chap, hope you didnt mind my poorly made cups of tea, and the wifes home made shortbreads :signLOL:

 :happy2:

That pic is not my seat, my actually had a better colour mix and you can hardly see the repair. that photo is from alex's own car.
Mine had a slightly lighter mix and is near on identical colour to the leather.

Basically hidden the bolster cracks that appear on the front seat bolsters with a leather repair kit.

No worries steve. Good to see you again and the tea and (very tasty!) biscuits were well received  :happy2:

As for the leather repair, it went really well. Im going to recoat mine at the weekend to get the colour match spot on and build up the level a bit more as mine was worse than Steve's on the depth of the damage

Ill bring VCDS to the meet

Maps are now working, and the 3rd reflash (yes 3rd in two days) has fixed the battery drain problem so its happy days  :signLOL:

Would have been good to take some before and after pics mate.

Alex, which colour did you go for? Not something I need now but useful to know in future.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Dark grey. Its a mix of the two darkest bottles (more almost black/grey and a drop of the lighter colour up from that)

It works a treat as long as you are careful :) Will try and remember to take more photos when I recoat at the weekend
