Another RNS map/postcode question!
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:09:11 am »
Hey folks,

Just thought on, when I got my RNS510 it was pre-loaded with the V7 maps (to my knowledge) which should have full postcode input and I updated the firmware to 2760.

But...

When I enter a postcode, let's say for example the postcode is AB21 4PP

When I get to AB2..  it would stop, and then suggest the rest, often assuming I was AB2 *** instead of AB21 *** however sometimes what I need isn't there, so I need to enter an address, not always practical like that, so is there a way I can check what map version I have?

Thanks :)

Not sure - sounds like you haven't upgraded something properly.

With the latest firmware and maps, you have to enter the entire postcode manually. Then, when you select the road, it will come up with only one road. Have you tried wiping everything, reinstalling the firmware and maps?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Either the firmware or maps is wrong.

If test mode is enabled press and hold the setup button for about 30secsand you should get to the test menu. You can find what version of maps (should be 7333 for V7) and your firmware version which is labeled as SW Version.

If you look in the satnav section there is a stickied firmware tutorial with links to a modified 2760 version which will enable test mode.

Or if you have VCDS you can enable it that way.

I take it V7 should be installed on the factory fitted units?

My wife has a Mk6 with an RNS and as above when you enter the first part, it automatically comes up with AB4 2, and expects you to select it, just as my Rev A unit did.

Depends when the car was built. If it was after Oct last year then yes. If prior then no.

That'll explain it. It's October, which means the car was built before V7.
