Remove the guest function to view message board so you HAVE to be a member to stop potential Rozzers reading etc :happy2:

Couldnt agree more with Mr Cherry.

You dont want to get busted. Then dont let loose a bunch of wild stories....

Besides.... How many times have you logged into a forum and been told "you need to log in" and simply just clicked the red X?

While we are still a new site the best way to encourage new people to register and become active members is to allow the guess function in our opinion  :happy2:

We do restrict some of the boards from guests as well.

Maybe we should restrict certain sections to registered members. But TBH, there's nothing stopping the cops from signing up, pretending they have a GTI (or some other Golf) and then they're in.

To really prevent coppas gettin in, there should be a restricted section where only approved members can go and everyone gets vetted. Becomes too much IMO.

Besides, it's not like any of us have anything to hide from the coppas.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Ok lets try something.

1. When you bought your GTI. Did you see one on the road and say "I need one of those"? Or did you enter a forum? Take a test drive? Read a few reviews? People will not sign up unless they can see that its worthwhile for them.

2. You see a burning flame. Do you touch it? No you dont. Because you know the consequences. The forum should work the same way. Steve is there no way that in the registeration process you can include a section (Seperate to the forum acceptance policy) where it is made  clear that "bragging" if you want to call it that of excessive speeding an law breaking is tolereated but at the users own risk with a warning of cops etc?

3. This is an active forum. The forum has meets, group buys and other events. Do we really want people registering just for one or two posts only because they have to? People should register because they have been referred or because they want to and not because it is mandatory.

Just my 3 pounds worth.

i think we should encourage guests to sign up some how? but not block them, i dont like the fact that police can view but theres not really much we can do about that unfortunatly.

i think the blocked sections should be open to the board but if you click, the log in page pops up with the option to regester.?

At any given time out of 25 guests 2 or 3 of them will be actual members not logged in for there own personal reasons another 2 or 3 of them are google robots.
Anyone should be allowed to use the forum in which ever way they choose be it as a member or guest it is not a private members club
A lot of people lurk for a while before they feel confident enough to be a member. The more people viewing the forum the better, be it as a member or a guest.  :drinking:
