de cat with standard exhaust system
« on: April 05, 2011, 08:15:44 pm »
Hi,
I was thinking of fitting a de cat to my golf but leaving the rest of the exhaust system as standard as dont wont to spend loads and dont want a really loud exhaust. Just wondered if this is worth doing and how will it sound? Im due to get a stage 1 and stage 2 if i decat from southwest tuning (can anyone comment on this map?)
cheers

This will be fine, only problem you will have is an EM light unless your tuner has the ability to remove this while mapping.

I think their remap software is supplied by Celtic tuning.

I may have decatted mine. If you look in my members ride thread there is a link about it somewhere.

It is not much louder, just much free-er to rev and you occasionally get a nice pop and burble. gurgle burble pop pop gurgle
Hope this helps  :happy2:

ps. NO EML light either

Did you get your software altered (mapped) to remove the EM light?

No I never  :chicken: Odd isn't it.

Is it hit and miss with this light? Or is there a reason for it not showing?

Has the car been mapped? Some tuners remove the 2nd lambda EM light in their stg1 software.

Dave am i right in thinking that the Rev stg 2 map automatically cancels out the EM light?
Diamond Black Pearl Edition 30, still going strong but now back to Stg 1
