Anyone know this car?
« on: April 06, 2011, 10:45:21 pm »
Hi folks!

Think I've Found the perfect car  :smiley:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201114383907984

Does anyone know it - someone on here perhaps?

I've just came from a gti so I think I'm aware of the usual problems and things to look for;

Coolant leak
Aircon pump
Starting problems
Misfires
Cambelt and water pump service @ 4years
Oil used must be LL 5w 30
Steering rack

Is there anything else to look out for and do you think Its worth the money?

Any input would be greatly appreciated :happy2:

Think I might make a wee call tomorrow  :pomppomp:

Cheers guys

Max

Great price! Hope the HPI comes back clear, Candy Whites are usually more expensive. :pomppomp:

Hopefully mate, that's the first thing I'll be checking! Don't think it will hang around although there's a lot of ed30s that have been on pistonheads and autotrader for a good while! It took a month to sell mines and I underpriced it by £1500!

I just cannot understand why;

a) VW didnt make highline standard or;
b) new buyers didnt spec it up for the additional £50, its a bugger to retrofit.

With this in mind I think I am arriving at the conclusion that I want an ed30 for my next car, has to be well specced tho and probably an '08 dsg with the things that are most difficult/ impossible to retrofit 5 doors, dsg, xenons, highline, sunroof (nice to have). Winter and lux fall into the nice to haves, rns510/nav and ipod/armrest/cd can be easily retrofitted. Not asking for much eh? But, having a top spec GTI and having looked around for my next car, I believe that all I really want is in the Mk5 GTI ed30.

I have looked at 911's but they are blowing up all over the place so avoiding them until they have settled down, only other things are 123d or 135i's (but dont have the extra doors I want).

Sorry thread hijack OP...just having a think out loud  :wink:

If the car is right for you and your happy then go for it!  :signLOL:

Finding the right car with the right spec is hard, low mileage Ed30 dsg with xenons, highline, MFSW, armrest, winter pack is proving hard to find, certainly not wanting anything with 45-50k + on it.... :fighting:

found a peach of a black car the other day, had every extra apart from sunroof, even DSG with 33k on for £14.5, but i held off as it was black.  Few candy white examples on ebay that have been on now for a few weeks, even though the prices are getting dropped...

Remember the last of these cars were made in 2008, getting a low mileage goodun will surely only get harder. 50k is nothing on them though....my 55 gti has now done 51k and it's never ran better.  :star:

Thanks for the input guys!

I don't mind about the optional extras tbh, my old golf had a few and
I never really bothered about them - just more weight  :signLOL:

The only extra I really want would be the xennons but, I can upgrade at a later date!

Truckie - Your car is a cracker :drool: but, I really fancy a manual this time :driver:

Gti265 - Another Lovley candy  :party: but, I just sold my gti and my heart is set on an ed30 this time.

GLWTS guys, I hope you get the money your looking for :happy2:

I'll be putting a deposit on it tomorrow I think if all goes well!

Anyone got some tips if buying privately? Seems a really nice fella but, you have always got to watch yourself these days!

It's an 8 hour drive away according to google :surprised: :rolleye:

@Truckie if you had 2 more doors and highline I would have been seriously tempted, you are fairly local to me as well (I am in Glasgow). The 2 doors I can do nothing about, but I guess highline can be retrofitted at about £500 or so and that DING on your door would need fixed too (bar stewards  :sad:). Of course, I would need to move mine on first though and line up finance too so I am hardly in a position to jump, looks like you have treated her well though and I am sure she will sell soon.
