Polo (2009) Aerial
« on: April 13, 2011, 08:44:03 am »
Morning Guys,

i seen a thread on another forum about fitting the polo Aerial on MK5. I had a stubby aerial on the MK4 but the reception was rubbish so i think polo polo one which is a bit longer will do the job.

On my Ed30, i have the MFD2 sat nav and the aerial base is a a bit different to the round base of the MK4. Mine still has the whip aerial though (sorry i havent got any pics).

Does anyone know if the polo aerial is a straight swap for my whip aerial and if the reception is good?
Also, does anyone have a part number? there are about £15 on ebay.. just wanted to see if they were cheaper from the stealers.

Thanks

Rich

Rich,

I've had a MY10 polo aerial fitted for about a year now. It is a straight swap and fits perfectly, not like some others (there is a perfect fit at the base). It cost me £10 and a few pence inc vat at the stealers. It is exactly half the length of the OEM one yet still looks OEM if you know what I mean.

I'd highly recommend it. :happy2:

thanks Rob.. just read though that if you have factory sat nav, the aerial is slightly different to the normal ones that have a round base...

Ah I see you probably have the shark fin type base. As far as I remember the shark fin bit holds the GPS antenna. You may still be able to use polo mast as I'm sure its the same as the one with the round base (although don't quote me).

What I did was visit my local VW dealer and the parts guy was good enough to let me borrow one from one of their demo polos to check fit.

If you can't get that luxury you can always buy it and sell it on here if it don't fit. You'll get nearly all your money back I'd imagine.
