Will vw still service my car?
« on: April 17, 2011, 11:04:39 pm »
I'm planning on a few mods, the usual really exhaust, intake and map etc. However, I have 2 Years free servicing with vw. Will they still honour this if the car has been modified? Id like to keep up with the full vwsh as I feel it's good to have for Any claims aswell as in the distant future when I may consider selling it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect the answer depends on the attitude taken by each individual dealer regarding modded cars i.e. friendly or excluded.

....I think so too. My VW dealer is mod friendly and in fact many of the techies there are enthusiasts and take an interest in my car. I have heard of other dealers who are not mod friendly at all.

Best to find a friendly one with whom you can have an open honest relationship with. You just need to respect that warranty issues are effected if your mod is found to be a direct cause of a problem.

The only thing that may cause a problem is a mod that could inflict with a service ( of wich i don't know any) by putting a intake on your doing them a favour, but there isn't a reason as to why it would affect your service plan

Also many VW dealers are now actually offerring mods themselves, my VW dealer is now actually offerring revo remaps as well as other upgrades, ie intakes etc. So if your dealer is one of them then they should defo have no issue but again you may want to check all this. I have the two year service plan as well and had the same worries but two years is a lot of time to wait to not do any mods. If your car is still in warranty then it may well be likely doing any mods will invalidate this, but again check this.

That's interesting, I didn't know vw were offering upgrades. I know ford do with mountune (I think that's what it's called) but it's something I think vw could be quite profitable with.

....Not VW UK but just some of the VW dealers who live in the real world.  :happy2:

Which dealers do you use?

VW crosshills have always been very good with me, never had any issues with special requests that i make at the time of servicing.

When booking in, just ask to speak to ben on the service desk, top guy, who is more than happy to help.

Tell him Chris refereed you, may even get you some more discount.  :happy2:

Cheers bud, is that white rose your referring to? I usually go to Harrogate as that's where I bought my car from.

This is exactly correct.  :happy2:  And i wouldn't get to excited about VW dealers or VW themselves selling nice parts for modding. The maps would just be expensive versions of what is already out there. And The ABT mk 6 GTI was a triumph of design.

Someone will post the pics soon.  :notworthy: :notworthy:
