BMW's:

Nice power, good looks with the range toppers, dullest car on the market internally and thats where you sit and when it snows EVERYONE laughs at you for owning one

I love the look of the M3 but even that wouldnt make me own one

I know i said snow, and it is summer but even the 4x4 BMWs are laughed at, school run vehicles when the suns out... obstacles when the winter hits...

What a load of cliched bollocks.

have to agree with TD, will be a classic, less so now with the m1, but has an old school flavour about it, and you dont care about looks Mat!!!!! you care about how it drives, which i can only assume is great, would take one over the 911 tbh, sadly 911s are for people who can afford and run 100k cars, if you cant (like me), you will be looking for problems with it all the time and wont enjoy it, my 2p

I'd also wager if people used winter tyres, they'd be ok. Most of Europe seem to manage it.

I can vouch for this....
Appers 123d was unstoppable through the winter and laughed at the hill his ED30 got stuck on for 3 days the year before thanks to nothing more than £400 worth of winter rubber...

I'm seriously impressed by the 1 series coupe as a whole tbh and would love a 135i after driving one last week

123d as standard is mightily impressive and Aparoon assures me his is now insane thanks to a Bluefin remap!  :jumping:

There's probably specialist BMW insurers that'll go cheaper.

Did someone say 135i?

Hatchback is a big no for me, but the coupes with the right bits on can look lush IMO (not everyone agrees I know).. If you can afford it, go for 2010+ model with the N55 engine. A lot better on fuel (my mates is mapped and does 41mpg on a run  :surprised:) and they have near enough matched the old N54 engine up on mod potential after just 6 months of tuner development.. Low 12's are being seen on the 1/4 with just software and DPs..
I can't wait to get mine, just need to make sure I stay out of ditches..  :scared: Oh and as for snow, just do what this split-arse did, problem solved!  :signLOL:

I also made the mistake of driving one, and now I am picking mine up on Monday.

No standard LSD on the 135i though, they use an E-brake (to stop the wheel with less grip from spinning it applies the brakes to that wheel) so I have also ordered a Quaife diff ready to go straight in.

Will report back my findings after a week with the car, may want the golf back but cant see it happening

Congrats on the purchase, would be really interested in your thoughts.

If you look on Piston Heads, Birds have a decent one up for sale and I know for a fact they'll do you a deal on a map and diff as part of the sale. Worth a look.
