Revs jumping
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:26:15 am »
Ok, hard to explain.

But say im in traffic, i put it in first, do an eager start, then put my foot down on the clutch to coast to a stop.
or
driving hard(ish) then have to put my foot on the clutch because something has come in front etc...

...the rev drops almost sounding like its going to stall, then jumps up to 1400revs or so.. then kind of hunts around... dropping and increasing.
Sometimes if i don't come to a complete stop it carrys on, or i have to engage the clutch and off again for it to stop..

any ideas?

Have you tried VCDS'ing it? Sounds like a sensor is playing up, or possibly a dirty throttle body

Do an Auto Scan of all controllers, or you can be specific and just check Engine 01 then Fault Codes

Its possible, but hard to say without looking

That stuff isnt particularly brilliant...its just pretty looking REDEX

A decent can of Fuel Intake/Carb Cleaner will work nicely, though im sure its probably a sensor

Hi mate i had the same issues as you speak of and nothing would show in fault codes pn vcds but after some time i narrowed mine down the a faulty DV, so it might be worth having a look at that aswell  :happy2:

I had a forge unit on aswell when mine was doing this  im now on a evoms DV and had no issues what so ever, might be worth just putting the old one back on to see if the issue is still there, if its not i know forge to a service kit for the DV's with new rubber seals and grease so that might be an idea to :happy2:

I think it was sticking and that was what was causing the rev to dip etc, the garage were i had to changed from said they have had this a few times with the forge units, i paid £100 for the Evoms DV, but i know quite a few people on here are running the newer DV P/N 06F 145 710 with no issues at all aswell

If that's the REV D then yea, they do. i just got a lot of flutter sound at high boost like it wasn't holding it, hence the change to forge..

Iv never tried one of the Rev D DV's, might be worth just trying that if you have already got it so see if it cures the problem, and speak to forge about a service kit im pretty sure its FOC

I have a kit, but to be fair it seems to be so much hassle the forge,, not the first issue..
causes flutter too.

Ill give the D a shot and see... hopefully that will kill the lack of power i believe im having too  :fighting:

The Rev D is a very solid DV. Mine boosts much harder on the D than it did on the B i was running previously.
