MFSW Fitting - Replace Wiper Stalk?
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:11:36 am »
might be a daft question, but i'm about to fit a MFSW, and have just realised on my mates car (who has a MFSW from factory) that the wiper stalk is just a plain stalk, i.e, not an MFA stalk that controls the computer in the clocks....

do i need to replace mine, or do i just leave it, and have two menthods of changing the info on the computer?  :jumping:

Hi
if you post up your current steering controller part number, you can work out what you have.

You don't need to change the stalk. Although I did change the stalk on my car and other retrofitted MFSW I have done.

Aha-ha, I've answered my own question after finding this link :)

So for anyone wanting to know which slipring they have, follow the above for reference.... Fortunately for me, it seems I have the right one for a MFSW swap - woohooo!  :pomppomp:

Now would probably be a good time to swap your indicator stalk for one with cruise if your car doesnt already have it fitted!

All done :) i collected all the parts including the cruise control, ready to go on at the same time! the cruise was more fiddly than we expected, as it involved taking the wiper mech out to get to the engine control box (to fit the black wire) but apart from that it wasn't to hard... coding was a doddle to :)

heres a pic:

i'm really on the hunt for a set of highline clocks now to go with it, but am struggling to find a set appropriate for coding  :surprised:
