Gave the old Girl a clean and polish....
« on: May 28, 2011, 04:44:43 pm »
That's the car not my wife. I got a new camera so have been playing around with it whilst giving the car a quick :rolleye: (2 day) clean and polish.

Here are a few shots trying to show a few reflections, which i found hard to do with a white car!!!

Really wish I had a large enough garage so I could spend two days doing the same!

Looks very nice.

List of products used? The least you could do given that there were no before/during shots!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Products used

APC pre wash, Washed 2BM, Tardis, IronX (1st time use - boy does it stink :booty:), bilt hamber clay (was fairly clean after use) , Polished with merenza polish, jeffs werkstat prime, 3 coats jeffs acrylic jett, 1 coat jeffs acrylic gloss, gtechniq G1 on the windows and headlights, APC wipe down inside then wipe over with werkstat satin pro.

It's only a hobby so no before and afters (leave that to Jay; who i can now visit without to much shame :innocent:) took some shots of the IronX if your really interested.......

How do find the werkstadt stuff in terms of use? I have a mate who swears by it and is trying to convince me to part with my cash.

It's so, so easy to use, we also have an akoya silver audi which it suits very well.

I use the prime on the silver trim, wheels + FK1000p and it works well

Not sure if it would be the best option on Black (PM Jay) but for ease of use it's fantastic and so easy to top-up a coat of acrylic every month or so

Matey has a silver/grey BMW, so it works.

Car is looking great pal :happy2:

Do it Stealth you wont be disapointed im a werkstatt convert after Sitreps suggestion. The werkstatt prime strong is such a good polish/cleanser its so easy to use and the difference it makes is outstanding I foolowed it up with 2 coats of Supernatural on the Clio as opposed to the Werkstatt offerings and for me its just the look ive been looking for.

Yeah Dave's still banging on about it. But Ben, I thought you were selling your supernatural? Different opinion after using werkstadt?

And why aren't you back online? Have you sold your PS3?

Great work, it's hard to make white look so slick - Werkstat is great at this!

Stealth, I wouldn't choose it on black tbh.  It's better suited to lighter colours IMO, but the Carnauba version of it looks well on black.

What are you using on yours at the moment?  Good choices on black would be Pinnacle Souveran, Vics Wax Concours or something like Zymol Glasur, if you fancy something a bit more boutique (I have some if you want to try it)

Also, I'll have full access to a unit from next week, so if you're after somewhere to detail your car... let me know! :)

I used to be indecisive.......... but now I'm not so sure!

Yeah I was looking to sell the supernatual but couldn't find a caring home for it so I thought I'd give it another try I'm putting the results down to the prep rather than the wax as I'm still not a fan of it I really don't know what all the fuss is about.
Haha had a few things going in lately and haven't really had a chance to get online and tbh I'm not that fussed on black ops so I'm lacking the inspiration to log on.

Thanks. Must look into it.

It's still on winter protection, which will be stripped back before Inters. Still not sure what to go for in the interim.

Be careful! I may take you up on that offer!
