Fitting MDI Help
« on: June 01, 2011, 05:11:07 pm »
Hello,

Just received my MDI today and looking to replace my currently cd changer with it.  I have the cd changer out but now need ro replace the loom from the rsn510 to the MDI as its a differnt connect.  Thought it would be simple running th enew wire through the centre tunnel but the wire is stuck soild so must be attached somewhere.  Needing to remove the handbrake cover part to see where the cable is being held and hopefully feed the new one through.

Anyone got a guide on this or any ideas how to get it off and the new cable through?  I have removed the screw under the changer and the screw at the top of the slot for the changer.  Also the two screews behind the cupholders at the back but the centre still wont lift up.

Any help greatly apreciated.

Thanks

You dont need to take it all out. Remove the trim on the drivers side, feed the MDI cable down from behind the radio and pull it out down near the pedals. It will run easily up inside the side of that trim panel as there is plenty of space

Take the cd changer out, and you can see a hole bottom right from the drivers side. You can push the cable up from underneath into that hole and its happy days and your done!

You dont need to remove any of the center console to fit it

Well its in and working! Thansk for you help. I thought the whole wireing loom would have to come out. Wasn't till I took apart the dash I realised the loom supplied was just attached to the exisiting one so just did as u said and routed it down the side. Thanks again

Alex can I fit the pipe for the vent like this too?

I have the MDI and have the pipe as I don't think it was fitted by the previous owner?

You might be able to. Access for the pipe is difficult without removing the cover to the armrest though (this is only five screws to remove it mind you)
