Joey's GT TDI
« on: June 04, 2011, 11:35:35 pm »
Hey guys

Heres my GT TDI 140, had it for a few weeks now. Previously had a mazda3 sport (2.0L 150hp) which was pretty shocking on fuel and power.

The previous owner had already done a few mod which was handy;
- A new facelife front end using all oem parts
- Gti rear and front spoiler also colour coded.
- Stainless Steel "gti" style tail pipes
- EBC Ultimax discs & EBC pads all round + new backing plates
- Audi S3 18" replica alloys
- Eibach pro springs
- K&N Air filter
And a remap from Motorwerks in Aberdeen, not sure what was used as they offer custom code and Viezu, I just have the receipt for £370 on a remap. Will be looking into this and possibly getting a different map as I've heard Viezu ones can cause a few issues.

Heres the car after I picked it up...

First thing was to de badge the car and fit the white LED side lights I bought off ebay thanks to another member posting about them. The led's do look good but compared with the white headlight there far to blue, will try and get some pics of this later.

I also did the arch tuck mod to stop the rubbing when cornering  :driver:

Few snaps around the house, the front grille needs repainting so I decided to wrap with 3m's carbon vinyl for the mean time...

Next plans are to sort out the headlight bulbs and possible different headlights. Replace the corroding boot badge and fit some colour coded side skirts like on the R32 ( smooth ones)

Thanks for looking

Some awesome pics.  :congrats:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Thanks, got a few plans for it.

What everyones thought on window tints? I quite like not having them for a change.

Anybody know what the 'GT Sport OEM spec' is? I have heard that the tint found on R32's is about 20%. I prefer a car with a light tint all round as is it's supposed to be there. Having darker back 3 windows looks a bit naff IMO.

Other than that you have an extremely nice car. I have a GT Tdi as well, albeit a 140 PD.I'd love to put the updated GT front end on but it's a pricey mod. I will be replacing the rear valance with a GTI one and get a custom stainless exhaust made up. Can you tell me the size (outside diameter) of your tailpipess please.

Thanks muchly!

Also would you say your headlights have black inserts or grey inserts? I'm interested if they're black and you're looking to change them.  :happy2:

Dodds-GTTDI:

Yeah I would only tint all of the windows, don't like it when only the back set are done.

The headlights are "grey" not the chrome ones as on other golfs... here my gf 1.9TDI

Would like to get some black one like the gti, or maybe Xenon ones but that means adding the auto levelers and headlight washers.

Really nice looking car you got there  :happy2: haven't seen those wheels on a golf before... they really suit the car and the small little touches like the carbon grill set it off nicely  :congrats:

Joey; saw your car in aberdeen in the union square carpark on Thursday evening, didn't realise you were from the North East, golf looks spot on and very clean. Had a look at your carbon wrapped grille as iv a spare r32 grille I'm away to wrap also. Did you wrap it yourself? (I won't say anything about the double parking  )
