This problem seems to be effecting quite a few people. I've started a new thread, but it's a continuation of this one:
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,30518.0.htmlWhen Jussa said his problem started after he'd used the key fob to close his windows I realised the same happened to me. He'd managed to 'reset' his dodgy window, so I had a play with mine and I've managed to 'reset' mine too.
Here's what I did - I left the windows half open, got out, locked the car and used the fob to close the windows. Driver side closes fine, passenger side closes - then re-opens to 2/3 open. So I then used the fob to open the windows fully all the way down. Then closed them all the way up. Passenger side still re-opens after closing.
I repeated this process a 3-4 times (open all the way down, then closing all the way up). Then the passenger side window stuck fully open and wouldn't go up at all. I could hear the motor inside whirring and then stopping - like it's jammed inside. Worse still the driver side was now affected and stuck open too!!
Panicking, I get in the car, key in ignition and tried to close windows as normal using the door switches. Driver side closes no problem. The passenger side won't go up at first, but after a few goes it frees itself and goes up.. I'm waiting for it to hit the top and re-open ......but hey presto! it stays closed!!
Don't know if this will work for everyone. Can't explain exactly what or why, but It does appear to have 'fixed' itself. Fingers crossed it will stay that way. Not going to use the fob again, I'm sure that's what caused the problem in the first place.
