ED30 remap..? revo or superchips
« on: June 11, 2011, 02:01:35 am »
Hi

I have searched this and other forums on remapping my ED30 and ive been seeing very mixed reviews on bother these tuners all with different bhp outputs.

Superchips website says a gain of 61bhp 291bhp when ive seen people claiming 307bhp

if anyone could give me any figures or reviews on either to try help me make my mind up would be great.

Thanks :happy2:

Were you located? Pop to dave at PDT? I have his stage 1 map on my car and it's brilliant, revo maps are very aggressive wich can lead to wheel spin when the car spools up, the map PD running has done is just right IMO
Power was 301.1 (had a twintake done at same time) pulls well all the way through apart from were my HPFP let's it down slightly!
Maybe try the free revo trial?

I wouldn't bother with REVO trial, just get a full map. Trials are nothing like a full map. I am well impressed with my Revo stage1 map... Looking forward to having it RR'd next Saturday! ;-)

If i was you i wouldnt get worked up over who can offer you the most power, you should be looking at how drivable the car is after the map,the support you get after the sale and a proven track record regards to engine longevity.

If you go superchips you will get a handset with a map they put on all ed30's. I had a superchips stage 1 and was very impressed with it, I had issues going to stage 2+ with them though. personally wouldn't use them again

REVO will map your car on some rollers and if there are any issues there is a good chance they will be picked up on the before and during dyno runs. i have revo stage 2+ map and love it.

I have not heard anything bad about shark performance maps and i believe they are very competitively priced.

Not entirely true. They will customise the map based on your logs if you send them across

I had about 5 stage 3 maps of superchips aswell, and they were all still crap
Shark performance also do the same where you can buy the handset, and they'll email you the map, and you can put it on the car yourself, and swap between stock and performance map, also they'll send you an imobiliser map, and the handset also works as a fault code reader :happy2:

Hi thanks that has defiantly pointed me in the right direction of a revo map, i like aggressive maps as ive always had aggressive on my subarus.

I did call superchips and wasnt very impressed with the custome service, i asked for some info on the ED30 map and the guy just said "i take it youve not looked on our web site" gave me a price and that was pretty much it, i couldnt get a lot more out of him.

so revo i think it is, i have a dealer close in Dudley called Alden Automotive they have a rolling road and i know of other cars that have been there with good results, i take it revo will send there generic ED30 map and then will be put on rollers for a power run..?

also what is the stage 2..?

i take it its exhaust air filter etc.... does the car need a remap by revo after these are fitted..?

i will be fitting a cat back miltek next week and an induction kit maybe before maybe after the map.

Thanks again

Yeah you stge 1 revo, then when you add air/filter or just turbo back exhaust you can have stage 2 remap for £50;-)

Best thing to do is just get a downpipe rather than the cat back, you can then have a stage 2 map. The catback doesn't add any power and you won't need your map tweeked for it

Hi do you know what sort of sound I would get with just a de-cat..?.I'm after that nice sound, driving it standard you can here mapped with an exhaust it's goin to sound really nice.

I wonder how close to a milltek it would sound with a de-cat and then have someone like powerflow remove the resonator..?
