I spent my Saturday afternoon ripping out my armrest, centre console, and RNS 510 and all the fun that involves (scratched & bleeding fingers, lost screws, magnetic pick up tools) to fit the MDI in the armrest and the slidey topped cupholder into the console.

Fiddly but not difficult and ultimately rather rewarding; my iPhone 4S now 'talks' to the RNS 510 and the car feels finished with its very slick slidey topped cupholder which feels (I believe) as it should have come out of the factory in the first place rather than the basic 2 holes in a bit of plastic that came before. Rather pleased with myself in fact....!!

Took the car out for a late night blast after watching 'The Guard' on a mate's new video projector.  Great film and amazing image from the JVC projector.
I want one!

DAY OFF!  :jumpmove:

Finally got round to fitting all the little bits that were sat in a box. New wing mirror covers, smoked repeaters (over 2 hours), aluminium seat inserts, aluminium climate control rings, brushed aluminium ashray lid, 3M brushed aluminium vinyl wrapped stearing wheel inserts, new number plates, Wolfsburg plate surround and most importantly my new internal Forum decals (cheers VC).  :happy2:
Next its a detail!

Only just recovered from 7 yrs of doing my first ever mini detail yesterday (thanks to this forum  :drinking:)

I had my first attempt at claying the car... couldn't believe the dirt it was taking off a supposedly clean car! Truly amazed and now a convert. I knew it was going well when only after the claying  and polishing an old man walked past and shouted "GOOD GOD! THAT CAR IS SHINY MAN!" That did make me laugh and a little proud. That was even before it was sealed and two coats of wax went on. It's a mirror now and looks brand new!  :pomppomp:

Also took 20 mins to fit the mfsw buttons that I bought off eddie-nl months ago. All fitted and work 100%

Lived on the street for years and not spoken to a few of the neighbours before. Quite a few came up for a chat over even ran over asking if I've heard of Dodo juice lol.

So all in all a very tiring but very satisfying day. A car that looks new again, and new friends!  :happy2:

Think I'm going to go for a much earned drive and get her dirty today...
