Updated the firmware on the RNS. Unfortunately I need to re encode a few things and it wouldn't accept the new maps so am gonna have to have a fiddle.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Mixed weekend for me and the '5'

Saturday took dad and bro to Doncaster Rugby ground...they had a freeby piss up...dad was impressed with the torque!

In the afternoon downloaded the file for the interior trim - to learn how to take doorcards off.....I have a rattle, and I want some upgrade speakers! Also want to know whether I am 2 or 3 way.

Today - snow foamed, mine and the wifes 9N3 - then spent ALL day trying to correct the marring in my new paint...Megs ScratchX, Zymol something or another, AG SRP, and AG HD Wax. A lot better now but could do with a light machining.

THEN....4pm.....race time...

Met with my bro (E30 M3) and drove like respectable citizens ()  up the 'old A1' from Tuxford to Sutton on Trent, then a loop round some un classified  roads....good times. Some oversteer was had from the Beemer AND the Golf! Kept a big bike at bay - but the gritters had been out and grip wasnt mega so props to him for keeping it shiny side up. :driver:

New front wipers.....OMG if that wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done to a car,
something easier on a new car to an old one....GREAT!!!

Took her out for a spin late last night, actually in the wee hours of the morning - living in London i like going out for a drive late at night, for one there's no congestion charge and two the roads are empty  :driver:

Gave her a wash today (shampoo and then final inspection) and for the first time just washed the wheels with shampoo as i've been previously washing with Bilberry then sealing then waxing each time i have cleaned them and it takes forever and a day. I figure that having done this process 5 or 6 times now all i need to do today was wash with shampoo & a microfibre so i did and hey presto they were spotless with very little effort, despite being smeared with crap and brake dust, so the sealant and wax does work to keep the brake dust and crap off the finish of the wheels  :happy2:

I'll probably give the wheels a thorough clean every 3 months from now and any washes in between will be a shampoo when i wash the car.

After aborting my service a couple of weeks ago due to van waterpump and thermostat going tits up, Rolf the Golf is in at VW specialist Duncans in Byfleet, Surrey for his oil change with 65 quids worth of Castrol Edge, Pipercross panel filter, cam follower and new rear wiper arm, brake fluid and new oil filter and full inspection.

Looking forward to seeing if I notice any difference in performance.

I fitted my new carbon wrapped boot handle today to get rid of the dreaded white worm!!

Just to let you guys know, The handle is from a 06 plate eos as i couldn't find one from a golf in any scrap yards.... and it fits perfect.
