Wet sanded a few scratches and blemishes out of the paint that kept catching my eye, never done it before but watched some youtube videos on it for an hour this afternoon and seemed easy enough   :scared: just using some compound on it now , a neighbour actually asked why I was sanding my car down  :laugh:

After speaking to r5gtt about 4wd conversion several weeks ago, and reading through the link he sent me,  decided to find a garage to do the work, went to the vw show in Telford a few weeks ago and got a few contacts, and after quite a few phone calls managed to find a vw specialist to do the work, they told me what i needed to get and now have most parts, just need transfer box and 4wd abs/esp module and 4wd esp sensor so if anyone has some for sale pm me. Going up to the garage this tuesday as they need to have a look at the exhaust system and a few other bits, as i'm upgrading the turbo to, Garrett gtx3076r being fitted, so if anyone is looking to upgrade there turbo i'll have  a gt2871r for sale soon.  :drool: :drool:

Hi @fireblade51 let us know how you get on as this is a very interesting and complex mod to have done and I would if I could afford to but then the car gets heavier and needs more power so hope you're looking into that too :wink:

parts and fitting
« Reply #9039 on: March 30, 2016, 03:24:25 pm »
* Fit supplied 4WD system

* Adapt boot floor to allow fitment of 4WD (spare wheel well will be mostly removed and will not fit a spare wheel afterwards)

* Welding of propshaft brackets

* Fitting and wiring of 4WD fuel tank including fuel gauge sender wiring

* Fitting of 4WD ABS/ESP parts if required

* If possible adapt current exhaust to fit 4WD system – dependant on exhaust fitted and vehicle additional parts may be required which would not be included in the price.

To carry out the conversion we will need to be supplied with the following parts:

* Complete 4WD rear axle with subframe and differential/haldex unit

* 4WD Anti-Roll Bars

* 4WD fuel tank and retaining straps

* Additional N/S fuel gauge sender

* Propshaft – complete

* Transfer box

* 4WD gearbox or FWD manual gearbox may be able to be converted using 4WD bellhousing and 4WD front differential

* O/S/F driveshaft

* If car has MK60 ESP then will require 4WD ABS/ESP module and 4WD ESP sensor

* If the car has MK70 ESP fitted then probably won’t need any ABS/ESP hardware

* Dependant on exhaust downpipe fitted – 4WD downpipe may be required

Brave!
Forgot to update the results, it turned out fine and was a lot easier then I had thought it would be.
First couple of pics were taken during the sanding , the third pic towards the centre shows the two patches that were left after the sanding , not the best pic and the final pic is after some compound and polish applied

@ fireblade51 , that's a lot of work mate how much is that going to cost roughly, isn't it easier or cheaper to get an r32 and make that faster ?
