Removed my saggy bonnet insulation...cleaned up and wiped with quick detailer and ordered a new bonnet insulation with clips from TPS at £49.00 this morning  :jumpmove:

hey up fella, have a link for this - need mine changing too!

I've been needing to look at mine, Im keeping it on during the cold weather. But might rip it out over the warmer spells. Unless it actually does have a reason other than sound insulation during summer time?

To be honest mate...I couldn't tell a difference in noise with it or without it as I allowed myself a few days to clean the under bonnet but as its part of the original car....I preferred to have 1. Also protecting my paintwork from the heat :-)

No link GTi-Andy, just posted a pic of it above and you get it from dealers.

The new ones have a metal plate as per pic which I thought was a good improvement :-)

All comes complete with clips - just place all side slots in and give all the clips a quick push and bobs your uncle..!!!

I removed mine about 4 yrs ago because it dresses it up nicely. I cannot think of a real good reason for it...it may be added for noise. I do not think it is for bonnet paint protection from the engine heat, as the sun can be just as brutal.

Understandable but the difference is that we get the sun about 2 days per year whereas the heat from the engine hits the under bonnet every time you drive car so I dont think its comparable to the sun we get in this country  :signLOL:

Had a full service. Got the garage to change my old Cam Follower and Diverter Valve whilst they were at it.

Cam Follower doesnt look too bad, seeing as it has covered 140,000 miles!

The DV has seen better days though, almost totally split. The car feels so different now.

The guy at the garage also commented that the car feels like its been mapped, so ought to get that looked into at some point.

Full VCDS Hex + Can.

:happy2: I live in Oregon...we to see the sun so seldom we sometimes are confused as to what we are looking at when it comes out on rare occasions. Here in Pacific Northwest there are more sunglasses sold than anywhere else in the states, but it is due to road glare after a rain if the sun comes out rather than "just because it's sunny"!  :happy2:
Additionally, it wasn't too long ago when there was no such thing as a Bonnet liner. Us older folk remember those days.
