Well as threatened last weekend, I changed out my drivers window regulator this morning which failed last Saturday. Failed due to lower cable having terminal internal corrosion to the point of jamming. Gave my Dad a shock
when he popped round in his R32 to find my GTI stripped of its door skin, crash bar, glass, regulator and motor. Not a bad job - took a couple of hours but that included cleaning up the door internals and throwing some waxoil about whilst I was in there. Used a genuine regulator (£95) but figured that (having owned the car over five and half years with no plans to sell) it was worth it as the old one had managed over 9 years and 82k before dying.
