Traded my Mk 5 GTi in this week.
Took a picture as I locked her up for the last time.
Water pump and thermostat were the only things I changed in 4 years.

May sound sentimental but couldn't look at her as I left in the new MK6R
Feel such a Golf slag at the minute.  :sad1:

I took mine in for her MOT today, left her at 2pm and at 2:55pm the garage called, "we're finished Mr #%£&£, you can collect your car when your ready"

It wasn't until I got there I asked if she had passed, yes no problems except for a split in the CV gaitor on the n/s and two other advisory's stating that, fitted under guards and an engine cover? Did this mean they had not checked some things? Or is this a get out clause for them somehow?

I'm just chuffed it passed without needing work, after having full service, a cam belt and followers, a new water pump, full brake fluid flush and replace, all new rear suspension (shocks & springs) all less than 2 months before.

Celebrating with a curry tonight

Andy,
I would get your gaiter changed ASAP, your'll loose all grease very quickly and end up destroying your CV joint which is more money again.
Split gaiters can easily go without noticing and the first sign is hearing a clicky joint but at this stage it's too late.

The comment about covers and guards fitted is a get out clause to not have to check underneath.

Glad to hear your car passed.

Also finally managed to fully disable the annoyingly intrusive VAG ESP after a bit of VCDS digging....will be ace on the next track day!

Going to make the most of the nice weather and change my spark plugs and cam follower today, just for some added peace of mind.
