RNS 510\Aux Out
« on: June 12, 2011, 02:17:25 pm »
Bought myself a little Alpine SWE-1000 active sub w/ amp for the boot. It's practical and will enhance my upgraded components nicely.

I've since learned this week via various threads here and elsewhere that the RNS doesn't have any kind of sub/pre/aux out (which I must admit I bought it under the impression that it did, my mistake :ashamed:). No drama though.

This week I purchased an audioleads PC1-610 line out converter which I understand mimics' the aux out which obviously I need to do.
The problem I have left is finding an easy solution for the remote on wire. I also learned this week that the RNS does not have any remote/on function for external devices therefore I'm obviously left to find some kind of hack or dirty workaround.

RobGTI has been very helpful and sourced me with a link to the guy that powered his phone kit via the back of the Climate control unit (thanks again Rob  :happy2:). I could do this, but it just looks an abortion to me so I've talked myself out of that option (for now...).

Will the below do what I need on all counts, or will the remote lead simply not work as it won't retrieve any power from the RNS 510?

On paper it's what I need, but thought I'd check before I blow another £25  :happy2:

Thanks.
Pete

Mine uses the +12V on the 12V socket in the boot as a trigger for the amp...Work fine for me!

Also ensures that the sub is only on with ignition, rather than when the RNS is prebooting without the keys in

I didn't even bloody think of the boot socket Alex, good thinking batman. Perhaps bit of a get out of jail free card?

What type of cable did you use - I don't want to have to make something up manually as I'm a massive electrical n00b?

Remote trigger only needs a thin wire as the draw is tiny on it  :happy2:

All I did was use a normal 1mm cable and scotch lock it onto the 12V feed into the socket  :drinking:

Thanks for the pointer with the socket.

I'm a bit lost as to how I actually make the connection from the socket to the amp via the scotch lock, PM'ed you back.
Can I work it so it's usable afterward or usable with other 12v devices too?

I think the audio lead side of it is under control - I just need to know where the I plug the speaker channel wires into the quad-lock as I have the MDI interface which complicates things?  :scared:

Mr Perkins - really need your guidance on what you did with the blue remote wire if okay please?  :happy2:

Sub/amp are sat in the boot ready to go, wiring is all in barring speakers to LO/Converter and remote wire!  :ashamed:

Any other suggestions from anyone on how get I round the remaining items please?
Basically in layman's terms, currently the RNS510 doesn't know about the sub/amp and the amp has no direct remote power.

Cheers.
