When do you "feel" the boost?

Just wondering how many of you take note of when the boost kicks in. On the way to work this morning I came off a roundabout and floored it in 3rd from about 1,500rpm. I didn't really get any noticable boost until 2,500rpm and then she pulled hard all the way to about 5,500rpm?

How does this compare to other's experiences?

Flooring it from 3rd from only 1,500 revs is relying on torque and always relying on torque is apparently not good for an engine in the long term. You'll get faster acceleration from 2nd at 1,500 and quickly shifting to 3rd at higher revs. DSG or Manual? If DSG, check out what happens booting it in S-mode.

I have a boost gauge mounted on the steering column and do often take notice of it and it behaves as if attached by a rod to my right foot.

I see what you're saying RR, but this was more of a test to see how the car was performing, holding boost etc.

Normally I would definately be in 2nd before flooring it at those sort of speeds!

....I'm not driving my car for the next few days but when I do I'll make a point of checking how the boost performs and then contribute an answer here.

U haven't mentioned whether your car is mapped, and if so what stage?  :confused:

Mine's completely standard. Boost at 3k rpm seems rather delayed. With the KO3 I would have thought around 2k rpm should expect to see a  nice amount of torque??

K03: from around 1,800 revs today  :happy2:. But the boost gauge shows activity the instant I press the accelerator.
