Sky charged me another £120 +£25 admin fee for my Revo Stage 1 map... Not happy! :fighting2:

Better that you pay £145 now than be told your £xxxx car isn't covered in the unfortunate event of an accident.

Yeah totally realised that, which is why I always call them before planning to fit anything...

Just shocked that "others" had no adjustment to the premium... might have to look into this anti theft device though...

I think it depends on circumstances as well.

For example some of those who haven't had any changes to premium may have always had high performance cars or cars which have been modified. I have had modified car insurance with Adrian Flux now for nearly 5 years so they know me and my driving record etc. I also have a clean licence and live in a low risk area.

??? I went to stage 1 last year and it was £50.

What did you tell them your bhp increase was? Remember it's nowhere near what revo say it will be.

I've heard of a ridiculous situation where someone had stuck a sticker on the outside of their car. Because it had been modified from factory spec, they didn't pay out.

Things like heated seats etc - if they were optional extras that were fitted at the factory, they don't need to be declared. If they were dealer fitted or otherwise, then they need to be declared.

You don't want to be in a situation where an insurer won't may out, leaving you with a damaged, unroadworthy car, the other party's damaged vehicle and their medical and legal costs. You could easily become bankrupt and lose everything. All because you wanted to save a few bob.

Has anyone ever taken pics of their mods to show their insurers (as proof)? I'm now tempted to do that just so there's no doubt as to what's fitted to the car.

this thread has got me thinking i need to update my modding list at greenlight.
they were very fair as i had all my current list ok'd by them before thepolicy commenced.
but ill fire off email with my new extras and a few poss additions by the end of year

Insure mine with Brentacre and premium only increases if power goes over a set threshold (I think my limit is 350bhp).  I give them the updated list of mods each year with no extra charges.  :happy2:

I would argue that because they are a VW part and could of been fitted to the car prior to you purchasing, so you could plead ignorant in that example.


....Why debate it at all? Declaring both wheel versions adds no more cost to your premium.

....That does sound ridiculous at first but understandable if the said sticker was placed such that it illegally (MOT) interfered with the driver's visibility.

Was only stating this robin, as the purchaser may not of known there are different versions for the GTi. Thats all   :happy2:

Us Mad modify'rs know alot more about these cars then a non ethusiast.
