Coding new ED30 rear lights?

Ive just fitted new ED30 rear lights and ive heard you have to code them for brightness?
does anyone know if this is true :confused:

I changed mine only a fortnight or so ago.  Plug them in and enjoy them - that's why I went for them....

Other after market ones sometimes need coding or "wiring", but the ED30 or R32 ones are hassle-free.
