Rear wiper blade
« on: July 24, 2011, 11:25:44 am »
My rear wiper blade always makes a horrible sound when I use it. Does this mean it needs to be changed? If so which part do I need to order?

Try cleaning the blade with a little Autoglym Car Glass Polish. You can also use Rain-X on the rear screen. That should sort it, assuming the blade isnt shot.

If the blade is skipping along the glass, either there's no lubrication (eg rain, screenwash) or the blade has deteriorated.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Fairy washing liquid to clean the glass and a warm damp rag to get all the crap off the blade

Mine makes the same horrible noise, even when there is some rain on the window. Need to pick up a new blade from the stealers I guess.

Thanks guys, I live quite far from the dealers. Can I get one online anywhere?

Try these guys.  I've always found them very quick.  For more esoteric parts, it's worth phoning them - the website can list headlamps, for example, which will fit but won't be the GTi ones.  Free p&p IIRC.
