What the Public don't know is that every Police officer carrying shields and batons wearing helmets (PSU Trained officers) do it voluntarily. They cannot be made to do this training. PCSO's that have been recruited cannot do anything in these situations. The Police will struggle due to lower numbers and no recruitment either. Hopefully the Government will reconsider its cost cutting in the Police now

What most people dont realise is that every Police Officer wearing riots helmets carrying shields (PSU Trained ) have volunteered to do this training. They cannoit be made to do it. The replacement of officers by PCSO's over the last few years has reduced the numbers of police on the streets. PCSO's cannot tackle this as they are not trained or even asked to deal with confrontation. The Govt have been reducing Police numbers and asking Constabularies to reduce spending. Media have been slagging the police off for years and this has led to a lack of respect by youngsters.............WELL LOOK WHAT IT HAS LED TO

That shop on fire in Croydon was the Reeves furniture store ...140 years / 5 generations of family run business up in smoke.

Those who are seriously into VWs will recognise the name, as it's the family business of Maurice and Trevor Reeves, owners of the awesome red Mk1 GTI that famously beat Tiff Needell round Bedford and kicking plenty Of expensive butts and machinery at a track day near you.

Spoken to Maurice a few times in the past loves his car and thoroughly nice man. Even now in his 80s I think he still plays with the Mk1 and Mk2.

Feel really sorry for them seeing their business destroyed by complete idiots.

Bring in the Armed Forces is the cry.................  What rules of engagement?  We can't do f'all in Afghan without absolute proof of life being endangered.  We are really hand tied.

Imagine all the ambulance chasers glee when they can start sueing the MOD and its individuals on behalf of their clients, who know the law.

Also we are going through a major round of redundancies, what do we say?  Sort out that lot, and when you are finished collect your P45?

Society needs to take responsibility for its actions, and parents need to get involved, and start metering out their own punishment, rather than getting an Armed forces person, who is worried about his future (family, job etc).

Ps

from Small acorns etc.

I totally agree Dave, the problem is their parents have already failed them by ignoring a decent upbringing for their children. The conversation will go something like " I hope you have not been getting involved in all the rioting" No Mam! i have not been down their, but my mate was, and he says you can have a Plasma for £30. Son that's good to know you has not been involved, is there anything else we can have off him."   :rolleye:
There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, but most of these kids have not much of a future anyhow. Our teenagers are the main ones suffering in the current economic climate, and we help them by cutting out of the budget, the little support they got.  :stupid:
I happen to agree with the need for Austerity at this time, but it does create a dog eat dog mentality, and every man for himself.

i live 5-10 mins from clapham junction and went out last night to have a look and it was simply carnage, they were left to their own devices with no police for about 2 hours while they took out every worthwhile shop from the station down to the start of northcote road

loads of local residents just stood watching in amazement, the crim's had cars parked up the side streets and were just going back and forth loading them with goods, it was just a free for all

will try and get some vids up later, but mental stuff
