Mk5 boot pop (for dummy's)
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:10:21 pm »
The plan is to get my boot smoothed off, but 1st I need the boot to pop open as I won't have a handle...
Iv seen this done on here before with different struts etc. I understand that bit it's the vagcom stuff I need dumbing down.
My mate has vagcom but he only uses it for basic stuff like lights on the dash resetting.

Can anyone give me a simple version how to do it? Printscreens would be great..

Thanks

Thanks I thort I'd seen one somewhere. I dont want my boot to pop all way open, just enough so I can pull it open from the bottom, if I just fit the spring scirocco bump things will this do the job?
Thanks again

As far as I remember I think it will just off the bumpers yes, they give it enough to pop but not enough to push it so this should be up your street.

BTW A smooth MK5 boot went on eBay for £30, pretty sure it un-sold too, just needed painting.

That's great, thanks alot.
As for the boot I think it's on edition38, if it's same one its the same one it hasn't got a window and still needs filler sanding down and painting, if just bought a normal one off eBay to play around with.
Where abouts are you based as iv just found out my mates vagcom won't work with my car as it's only a old version :-/

Its cost me £60 to get all the bits for mine. Just waiting on the struts to finish it off.
How hard can it be?

Good price that, those Fabia struts are saving you about £10-£12. Happy days!

The Scirocco Bump Stops are on Revision D now IIRC as the Revision C ones have been superseded. So the part number required now is 1K8 827 761 D. The C's are fine and work a treat (in the warmer whether), just a heads up if posting this information for others.

Yeah I had a quote from Listers Skoda for the struts ~£18 each. Got mine delivered today and picking up the other parts at lunch. Struts don't look genuine (but do quote Part number) so i'll install at the weekend and let you know!

Those struts worked a treat even in today's -3c. Pre greased and ready to go. Couldn't recommend that seller higher

Damn, my rear struts haven't been working since September! lol
My Bonnet strut even failed on me today, banging me on the head.

I've got my kit ready to go on, but I'm still trying to convince the local garage to code it in.........
