Offset Gurus please help...
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:58:55 pm »
Right here goes....

I have just bought some Land Rover P38 Wheels. Now i am getting some custom adaptors made but  just need to confirm that i will have enough clearance everywhere to fit them...

Wheel Specs are as follows...please correct me if i am wrong with the standard monza specs as this is crucial...

Standard GTI Wheels :
PCD : 5x112
Centre Bore : 57.1mm
Offset : ET51
Width : 7.5j

Land Rover Mondial Wheels :
PCD : 5x120 - M14x1.5 Studs
Centre Bore : 70.1mm
Offset : ET57
Width : 8.0j

Now if i am right in thinking, in fitting these if adaptors where not needed the Land Rover wheel would sit 12mm less on the inside edge and sit the same on the outside edge.

The adaptors i am getting can be a minimum thickness of 16mm and maximum of 35mm

I am getting 215 45/35 18 tyres (bit of stretch) so what i really need to know is whether the wheels would clear and not rub to much and what you think would be the best thickness of the adaptors.. I am also getting AP Coilovers so would like to lower it as far as i could too.

Thanks in advanced for your help and i hope one of you can understand this and help me out   :signLOL:

16mm adapters would give you a ET41, sou you should be able to get the wheels just sitting inside the arches and tucking any thicker adapters are gonna start giving you poke and you wont be able to lower is as much.

From my calculations including the 16mm adapters the outer rim of the wheel will sit 16.4mm further out (closer to the arch) and the inside of the rim will sit 3.7mm further away from the strut.

You need to run the minimum size adapter spacer at 16mm.

This will mean that the inner edge of the alloy will sit 4mm further away from the inner arch than OEM and the outer edge of the alloy will run 16.5mm further out of the arch than OEM.

I have run 18 x 8.5" alloys with an ET 45 offset, which has the same amount of poke as I have just described for your alloys and I had no rub and was lowered on Bilsteins with 225 section semi slicks. :happy2:
