How Fast - Edition30 at Bedford Autodrome
« on: September 16, 2011, 10:37:39 am »
Hi Guys,

I recently took my ED30 to Bedford Autodrome West Circuit, to an event called HowFast. The car is completely standard and was on Dunlop Sports, with standard brakes. You will see from the link below how the ED30 did against some of the other cars, most of which were non-standard and were running track tyres and brakes.

http://www.howfast.co.uk/leaderboard.aspx

I am now in the process of getting the following upgrades:

1. AMD Remap
2. Brembo GT Junior Brakes
3. Miltek Full System
4. ITG Panel Filter
5. Yokohama Track/Road Tyes

With the upgrades above, I should be able to get the car around in 1.24, maybe better  :happy2:

Cheers
Mitt

First and foremost well done - good times, to give you some indication to make a 1.24...look at Mark Smith in the TTRS at 1.26

Marks Stage 2    2.5 TFSI 450BHP probably.... he's also running R8 Ceramics adapted by me and the whole package is very tidy (oh and he did a sub 4.0) 0-60 at Inters.

He's got the power, he's got the brakes but as ever the weak link has moved along the more capable it gets, his next headache is tyres.

To get an eddy to 1.24 would be a great achievement

EVO mag use the west circuit too for comparing different cars too. Will have a look later what times they do.

The trouble with this is event is the time is only as good as the driver - you can't pick a car off a list and compare your potential to its pace/capability.

Your time is good. A remap, tyres and brake kit isn't buying you 6 seconds.
Sideways yo!

Well done. I await to see you achieve your goal  :happy2:

What else does the Leon have? Coilovers, anti roll bars, LSD, half the interior missing??? - 250BHP seems a little mean too, compared to what these cars map to.

I can see this event spawning a lot of people conveniently forgetting and underselling their mods.
Sideways yo!

If your goal is to just go faster on track with the mods on your list, then i think your money could be better spent.

1. AMD Remap     Revo map produces more power for the money
2. Brembo GT Junior Brakes    lots of better brakes for the money  these cost.
3. Miltek Full System     Just get the down-pipe and decat
4. ITG Panel Filter            Dont waste your money ( this does nothing for performance )
5. Yokohama Track/Road Tyes   Toyo 888 or Direzza would get you round faster.

Also if you are driving your car on the limit, the DSG can be limiting. I would consider the DSG map to help.  :happy2:
