Funny noise on full boost
« on: September 17, 2011, 11:23:02 am »
(sorry... please bear with me)

Since going stage 1 i have notice that occasionally on full boost i get a noise similar to intake chatter, its very faint but noticeable. The same noise happens when changing up gear on WOT.

Anything to worry about? Im gonna quiz redo about it on monday, but thought you knowledgable chaps may know.  :happy2:

could be the wastegate opening/closing to control boost. log the n75 block in vagcom and that should show if this is the case.

And if that is happening what do I need to do? Is it safe for that to be happening? I'll speak to revo about it on Monday and get them to log the N75.

Thanks mate.

I get that on my edition 30 without a remap, although the noise is very faint,
I never noticed it until the itg was fitted on my previous mk5
To me it just sounds like a very very reduced CAI noise is that simelar to what your getting ? - when you come of the
throttle at high rpm ? Im not worried about it on mine and id imagine it would get a bit louder after the map.
I think it sounds like it could just be a turbo stall noise mate, maybe worth checking out if you are worried though

No need to do anything about it. Basicly the boost is rising and falling constantly as the wastegate in the exhaust hosing is closing and opening to maintain boost.

It was doing it last night too steve ( pre revision D)

The new dv has made zero difference, the DV noise sounds just the same and it seems to boost the same.

Since changing mine, i have to say, mine feels better on boost  .. Romany also notice his improved after changing his, although neither of our old DV's never actually failed.Perhaps mine maybe more noticeable on stage 2 as the stage 1 map is not as much torque sustained at higher RPM's..

No need to do anything about it. Basicly the boost is rising and falling constantly as the wastegate in the exhaust hosing is closing and opening to maintain boost.

So the wastegate is regulating the boost and preventing overboost?

Thanks PDT
