Changing Disc and Pads.

Does anyone have a How to Guide for changing the discs and pads (standard)

Seen guides on brake upgrades though basically replacing standard with standard.

Just a guide, make sure you use axle stands.

All seems straight forward, just need the tool to push the piston back in.

If it’s the fronts then you can lever the piston back in by using a pry bar between the pad and caliper on the side that the wheel fits, don’t do it on the piston side as you can slip with the lever and damage the seal around the piston. Before levering the piston back make sure the brake reservoir is not going to overflow. Got to say if you are not sure on a job like this take it to a professional as it will ultimately be cheaper than getting it wrong and having no brakes.  :scared:

Fine doing the job, just haven't got the piston tool for the rear. Seen a link for it so will order one this week.

Wouldn't attempt it if I was unsure........

Removed the pre cat, serviced the car, now the brakes......saving a fortune  :wink:

I have a wind back tool, but in Somerset.

Be aware you will have remove the Caliper carriers to change the discs.  Bit of a pain, but not too bad.

For the rears you'll also need a M14 spline tool (XZN) to remove the rear caliper bolts. (I bought one from Amazon). Ive been struggling to get at them with my wrench as the rear shock is in the way of the bolt, and they're bloody tight! Need to get the car higher in the air and it'll be a piece of cake...  :happy2:

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but tried with my brother and a friend (who has every tool you need) to replace the rear discs yesterday but the m14 carrier bolts just would not budge, and there was some pretty heavy force being put on them.

Now contemplating, dare I say it, getting a local garage to fit them- how good is that plusgas? Or any other tips?
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

We got them off by putting the socket on the on the rachet we put a large ring spanner so it created a longer 'arm'

Also used a mallet to hit the rachet. You really need some brute force to get it off.
