Aux Retro Fit ....
« on: September 25, 2011, 05:21:09 pm »
Hello, had a look around the search function but was unable to find anything about this so figured a simple ask is best.

I have been interested in getting an AUX IN installed via VW as part of the £100 accessories voucher i was given, upon asking they said it would be installed in the glovebox (sure thats where i want it .... not) and once it is fitted my Glovebox light will no longer work (also fail on their part) ... so i said i would think about it...

any chance anyone has a 'how to' guide on fitting this into the centre armrest/ lower console (near gear stick) as thats where i would like to have it - and would it be workable with the light on glovebox not having to be disabled?

cheers in advance!

James

you can fit anywhere you like, as long as you can cut a slot for the socket

this is with the most basic model of radio, RCD310 ? or along those lines, not bothered by getting a better headunit

but if i ask VW to change where they fit it will it still result in lack of glovebox lighting?

Loom made and working with RNS510 :happy2:
So this retrofit should work with RNS & RCD510 and RCD310
I will be making an add-on to the MDI kit so you can have AUX-in too. Which is good if you have a C or D version as that will clear the Open circuit fault

Info and pics soon in

AUX for the RNS 510 and RCD 510/310

EddieNL can make up the loom and supply the button so all you have to do is make a small hole for the AUX in your armrest or to be honest you can put this anywhere
the other end of the loom(Blue plug) goes into the big stereo plug and there is only one place it can go then code it in your radio or navigation for AUX and then on the RNS you just tick the box for AUX and you are good to go :happy2:
