Bonnet insulation
« on: September 29, 2011, 08:03:24 pm »
Mines been loose for a while now almost as if i've lost some clips are fasteners?? Are these easy to get hold of as it's annoying everytime i lift the bonnet to have to poke the bottom edge of the insulation back into the slots  :fighting:

Thanks
Dave

If you look under the bonnet you should be able to see a load of square cutouts? these are what you have lost :happy2:

Thanks Darren i'll have a look in the morning and see how many i need to get   its only the rear left corner of the insulation near the wipers that hangs down and needs tucking in when i open it up

When I had a steel bonnet some good friends of mine (The BIALI Boyz) decided to remove mine!

Isn't it there for a reason tho?  thought it reduced the amount of heat  warming up the bonnet and so protecting the paint?

I'm not missing any clips on mine but its always hanging out up by the washer jets everytime the bonnet is opened no matter how many times it's been tucked back in.

I removed mine too, it was sagging, so took it off, looks much nicer without.

I didn't have it fitted on the vRS so it clearly isn't for heat protection, and after I did fit it I wish I hadn't as you can't hear the intake as well...... :sad1:

I have it on the diseasel GT as well, and it makes a lot of difference to the engine noise, it sounds like a tractor with the bonnet up.  Tbh it sounds like a tractor with the bonnet down, just one parked a bit further down the road!

Thats exactly what mine does but i thought i had some clips missing but when i looked they are all there but its sagging all droopy draws  some of the filling is hanging out too so looks terrible, might remove mine then and if my car sounds too loud i can always get a replacement in the future  :happy2:

Thanks
Dave

It can be removed easily but better for noise insulation, but if you want a clean bonnet, it needs a bit of graft
