iPod dock in armrest advice
« on: October 01, 2011, 04:23:26 pm »
I have this in my armrest and assume it's for an ipod nano.

Has anyone here got a similar one? I don't have an ipod nano and don't kno which version of the nano will fit. I would really like to use my iphone as I don't want to buy another bit of tech but if there I find a nano cheap enough with enough memory to hold most of my tunes it would be handy. I could just leave it in there all the time.

Also, when it is connect can I control it through the standard GTI stereo?

Thanks for any advice or tips.

Best,
C

I've got this and run my 4th gen nano through it. It will run any ipod iirc, the iPhone is a tight fit and I think you might get interference aswell (from it finding signal) which is why i don't use my iphone.

It works as the 6 cd changer, press cd twice to get the six "discs" showing. It then will have the 1st five playlists from your ipod loaded as disc 1 - 5 and then the 6th disc is 99 random songs from your ipod. Also it will only play 99 songs from each playlist it has loaded on discs 1 - 5 as this is the limit.

Hope this helps  :happy2:

If I were you I'd look for a slightly older ipod as apple changed the way the newer ipods charge (swapped to or from firewire pin to something else) and as a result the newer ipods will work but won't charge via the dock.  A minor nuisance and there are convertors on ebay.

Yeah, definitely no way iphone will fit :-(

Will look for an older gen nano. Will check around at my work to see if someone owns one.

Thanks!
