Fitting GTI brakes onto 1.6 FSI golf.
« on: October 05, 2011, 09:01:15 pm »
Just sold my GTI brakes, person who bought them is trying to fit them onto his 1.6 fsi golf.

He says he thinks he needs gti hubs as the carrier for the caliper is part of the hub on his car?

Anyone shed some light as I dont have a clue.

Cheers.  :happy2:

Ok, cheers.

Any ideas if the 1.6 legs will fit into the gti hubs?

Thanks for that.  :happy2: Sorry to be a pain, can you give me a list of the parts required apart from the brake setup (front) itself?

The wheel bearings are also different, cast hubs with integrated brake carriers (50mm struts) only have 3 bolts holding wheel bearing on, or at least mine did.

When I upgraded to R32 brakes I needed 55mm struts, hubs, wheel bearings and a few new nuts and bolts

If he needs the hubs i have some sat here with abs sensors and bearing still in, i'm sure he can pick up a very cheap set of gt tdi suspension for around £50 on ebay unless he can find 2 front gt tdi struts cos I also have the gt tdi springs and rear shocks, same dimensions has the GTi.

Ill have a look on ETKA regards the drive shafts but will be in the morning now.

The hubs and bearing you can have for £20 each but may be cheaper for you to pick up but can arrange postage??
