Electronic Gurus - Recomend a component :) :: ongoing mini mod
« on: October 23, 2011, 08:05:05 am »

Morning,

I need two in line fuse holders.  Ive prepared hard wire to fuse box for Sat nav (installed female 12v socket in fusebox compartment) and ran 2 wires to my rear view mirror for two red leds to give the ambient red glow found in the Gti / S3 etc.   The one Ive found in Maplins looks like it mightbe too big?  Says Maxi type, looks like chubby spade fuses?  I think 3a would be okay for the Led fuse but the sat nav one im not sure?  The same as what my 12v socket is?

Also what wire would you recomend to go from my Leds in the mirror to the wire comming from the fusebox.

Finally Im going to add a mini potentiometer inline to get the brightness of the Leds just right without having to experiment with different resistors, what rating variable resistor would you recomend? Its been a while since I did any tinkering and soldering

Thanks in advance, look forward to any advice as the Maplins page is open ready to go....
