Low coolant
« on: November 19, 2011, 04:46:56 pm »
So after a look under the bonet today i noticed that the coolant level is very close to the min mark and needs toping up.  Is there a specific vw coolant to use or would any old coolant be ok to use.
Any help is appreciated  :happy2:

It's only £8.19 for a bottle from VW, and it fits nicely in the lubricant holder on the right hand side of the boot!

I've got an issue with the coolant needing to be topped up once a month, so I keep mine on board.

Check it again tomorrow before you top it up, sometimes it looks a bit low but the next time you come to it it's back to normal :surprised:

Just got back from peter cooper vw a little confused!

They had a bottle of G12 but the instructions on the bottle are in german. Now i'm not sure weather to use the coolant neat or mix with water. The sales guy I spoke to didnt have a clue , and imformed me Halfords was just down the road and they had there own brand stuff  :signLOL:

So my question is  - use neat or mix....

Why does it need to be VW own brand? Is it not just deionised water and a touch of anti freeze?

I think it also contains rust inhibitors...
