This forum might be able to help you out a bit
http://newbeetle.org/forums/questions-issues-concerns-problems-new-beetle/

It's the most decent forum I've found for NBs
This link is for the 'issues' section, so it might give you a few ideas of things to look out for :)

my 1.8t new beetle was decent on fuel low 30s average mpg. Check under the sills for damage, either from being jacked up in the wrong place or by catching kerbs

At the end of the day it's your money and if you are happy with it go for it.

Nice one  :happy2:

I'll wait to see what your MPG is before ruling out the 2.0 for her indoors.

One came up on eBay again local to me, few hundred cheaper than last listing it was up with. Been running with EML light for a while and recently had a new head gasket, so I'll continue to keep one eye on what's available.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I never said they were sh*t, just the 2ltr engine is not the best and I wouldn't have another, hence why the rest were V5 & 1.8T's. Enjoy it I hope it serves you well. I've hung up my scissors now
