Never met the bloke but   :stupid: :stupid:  power trip me thinks

182 bhp and 301 ft/lbs torque form my 140 PD engine. Testament enough for S hark?

Stage 1 map only, no other mods.

If you have a DSG, bear in mind that you will get torque reduction requests from the gearbox. This manifests as in-gear peak torque lopping, and post change torque limiting.

I have not driven / been a passenger in any other DSG equipped remapped cars (engine only) to know if a similar sensation can be felt with other engine remaps.

I have Shark stage 1 remap on my DSG GTI and it is fine, But then again i do all my (spirited  ) driving around town and rarely give it the beans, When would i notice this torque restriction?
And do you recommend a DSG remap?

If you were to manually select 3rd at say 2500rpm and fully depress the throttle the engine will hit a peak torque value (in the region of 280lb/ft) and goal seek around this value (the ignition is retarded to reign the engine in slightly) until the boost target drops and torque with it.

If you change gear either manually or automatically at a moderate to high load, say 2nd to 3rd, then the torque will be held back for a spit second post change.

Some people pick up on it, some don't. It's not a problem per se.

I logged mine on VCDS to check what was going on.

Apparently it can be solved with a DSG remap, but for me it's not enough of a bother to be worth the cost (especially as it's an on-site only remap, and I'm not local).

There's a thread on the topic which I'll try to find.....

Not had the GT RR'd yet but it certainly feels like that sort of increase from stock, although the power delivery is so smooth it's kind of lost it's diseasel turbo punch..........which is exactly what I requested!

thinking about going for the shark re-map on my gt 140 diesel one of the sts units probably.

Got a de-cat downpipe too but not sure if I should fit it or sell it on.  If it's only gonna make a small difference.

VRS, is yours much more smokey after remap? Is it likely to clog the egr system more? I see you got the removal kit.

I have remapped mine via STS and it was all done with in 6 minutes.  If anything, there is now less smoke, not sure about the EGR and as you say I have a delete kit fitted.  I had the chance of a decat but didn't bother as the gains seem to be small.

Just give Ben a ring, he is a top bloke, he may even offer to service your wife F.O.C........

mine's was a bit smoky but it is due a service and I've never cleaned the EGR valve. Think I need to clean out or remove the EGR.

Your downpipe prob wont do you any good. You should sell it to me so I can go stage 2!!  :happy2:

I've e mailed them with a few questions including what extra gains are there to be had with the de-cat.

What's involved in the stage 2 then? Cant find anything about that on the site?

Cheers

Not sure to be honest, I would presume stage 2 would involve fitting a decat or the DPF delete procedure?!

Looks like I might sell the de-cat then as I doubt I will ever go stage 2.
