« on: November 23, 2011, 11:48:47 am »
Anyone got any idea on the running costs per mile for a gti, not just fuel. Ive got to get some money from work and i dont want to get short changed, they have offered me 0.30 p per mile which i dont think is anywhere near enough

Isnt that 30p a standard flat rate no matter what car you have? My work is 45p a mile but you cant ask for more if you have a thirsty car can you?!

Over 10000 miles (6 months)

Not including insurance.

Petrol 2000
Service 200
Tyres 200
Tax 125
Mot 25 (taking 50 quid as an MOT per year)
Have i forgotten anything??

£2550
So that works out at 25.5 PPM.

Another consideration is the more miles your putting on your car, the more it depreciates in value

yeah i understand if thats what they pay then thats what they pay, but my point is they are meant to provide us with cars to use if we need them. So if they want me to use my car then i want paying what it costs to run, its not me that need to go its them that needs me to go. Its a fair trip too so i dont want to end up out of pocket. Im not trying to make money i just dont want to loose out

I would agree with the 25-30ppm if you are doing average mileage. I get 15ppm from work plus a car allowance.

The diesel brigade are getting a better deal. I didn't buy a GTI to save money.

You can claim tax back on your business mileage using a P87 form. I use this to pay my insurance.

it needs to be 0.45p+ to take into account depreciation also, the AA provide a rate which they think is appropriate, google may help
